South Dakota Spring Wedding at Good Roots Farms & Gardens | Brittany & Travis

Brittany and Travis tied the knot on May 3rd at Good Roots Farms and Gardens in Brookings, South Dakota. Let me just say, this day was such a joy to be a part of. From start to finish, it was full of laughter, heartfelt moments, and so many reminders of what really matters: family, friends, and the kind of love that grows stronger through life’s twists and turns.

Right from the start, it was obvious how loved these two are. Between their kids, their family, and all the people who showed up for them, the whole day felt wrapped in warmth. There’s something really special about weddings where the people in the room aren’t just there to celebrate. You can tell they’ve walked through a lot of life with the couple already. That was 100% true here.

A little backstory, because it’s too good not to share: Brittany and Travis actually met while on deployment in Kenya. Kenya! Travis will tell you he knew right away Brittany was someone special. He started picturing a future with her pretty much from the moment they met. I love hearing stories like that because it makes these days feel even more meaningful. From halfway across the world to this quiet little farm in South Dakota, how sweet is that?

The ceremony itself was extra special because Travis’s stepdad served as their officiant. It’s always so touching when someone close to the couple takes on that role—it just adds another layer of meaning to the vows and the promises being made. You could feel how personal and heartfelt it all was, and it made their ceremony feel like such an authentic reflection of who they are and the people who’ve helped shape their journey.

One thing we HAD to include was Travis’s beloved truck. It was a fun little detail to work into their portraits, and honestly, those are the things that make your wedding photos feel like you.

The whole vibe of the day was relaxed and joyful, exactly how I think a spring wedding should feel. There were lots of laughs (especially from the groomsmen), plenty of sweet moments with their kids, and at least one of their boys helped wrangle extended family for photos like a true MVP. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to hang out with for the day.

As the sun started to set and the dance floor filled up, the celebration just kept getting better. There’s nothing quite like a South Dakota spring night. Cool enough to keep the party going, warm enough to hang outside with friends, music, and a drink in hand.

Days like this remind me why I love what I do so much. Being part of Brittany and Travis’s wedding wasn’t just about taking pretty pictures (though we definitely got plenty of those). It was about celebrating alongside them and capturing the start of a brand-new chapter in a story that’s already full of so much heart.

Brittany and Travis, thank you for letting me in, for trusting me to capture this day, and for making me feel like part of your family. I’ll be cheering you on through every new adventure.

Big cheers to the Andersons. Here’s to love, laughter, and lots of slow drives with the windows down.
